各位家长、各位老师；

亲爱的同学们；

大家好！

1．温馨提示 JUST A KIND REMINDER

就在我在室内给大家书写这篇每周综述的时候，室外雪花飘飘，安静而寒冷。根据气象预报，今晚到明天，西雅图及其周边地区会有至少一英吋的降雪。降雪会给我们的生活平添很多乐趣，与此同时，也会给我们的交通带来暂时的不便，请大家尽可能以步代车；非开车不可的，请小心驾驶，安全第一。雪融化水之时，往往气温骤降，请注意及时给学童加衣，谨防感冒！很幸运，降雪不是在周五周六，因此，不会影响到我们本周六的正常上课。如遇特殊情况，我们会在周六早七点半前做出“CLOSURE OR DELAY”的通知，敬请留意。

It is snowing outside while I am inside composing this WEEKLY. According to the forecast, we’ll have at least one inch snowfall tonight and tomorrow. Snow adds lots of fun to our comparatively dull and tedious winter life, yet, it brings traffic hectic too. Avoid driving if you can. Drive carefully if you have to. To prevent our kids from catching cold, please pay close attention to their proper seasonal clothes. Fortunately, the current snow will not affect our normal classes on the coming Saturday. If the road condition is too bad, or if snow falls again Friday, we will send out an emergency email of CLOSURE OR DELAY to all parents depending on the actual situation around 7:30AM Saturday. Stay tuning.

2.仍未交纳学费的家长，请您务必带支票本来

本周是开学的第三周，但仍有个别家长由于种种原因尚未交纳学费，固然WINTER-BREAK是原因之一，但规章制度就是规章制度，希望大家共同遵守。谢谢合作。

If you have NOT got a chance to pay the tuition for your students within last two weeks, please do so on this coming Saturday (02/26) at the Admin Desk during the school hours. Starting from forth week (03/05), an additional $5.00/week will be charged for late tuition payment.Please NOTE, even your student meets the requirements for tuition waiver, you still need to make the payment first and the school will refund you upon approval.

3．中华文化之旅知识竞赛

2011 Chinese Scholastic Competition Registration Starts

本竞赛的另一个长处在于它的普及性、和年龄段的大小、知识领域涵盖面要比汉办组织的中华文化知识竞赛要大得多，对年龄小的同学更有益。换句话说，它和去年汉办的比赛非但没有冲突，还有互补性。

4． 《山歌好比春江水》民俗歌舞晚会 - NWCS 优惠票

CHINESE FOLK SONG SHOW ON MARCH 5^TH, 2011, DISCOUNTED TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NEAR ADMIN DESK THIS COMING SATURDAY

去年新成立的西雅图歌舞团将以“山歌好比春江水”为主题，于三月五日星期六举行首场演出(详情请看PTA Weekly Email/附件）。这场演出以歌剧《刘三姐》精选片段为主线，形式新颖不凡，对学生们将是一场中国传统文化艺术的熏陶。为了感谢我校对该团的支持，西雅图歌舞团将于本星期六（2/26）在主校大厅设点出售优惠票，2:30PM下午场：NWCW教师及学生优惠票价仅为$5一张，和学生一起看节目的家长也只收$5一张。7PM晚场: 还有少部分票，价格每张为$5至$15。节目精彩、票价低廉、艺术享受、莫失良机。本团的部分演员有的曾经是我校学生的家长，有的现在仍然是我校学生的家长。希望广大家长用给鼓励、尊敬的态度，用为他们捧场的方式，感谢他们为我校做出过的杰出贡献。

5. 通知领取书画作品

请我校书画展获奖的同学来ADMIN取回原作，还没有领取奖状和奖金的同学，请来ADMIN领取。

6．民族舞蹈教学演示

我校学生家长，原北京军区战友文工团舞蹈演员张女士，将在三月五日上午十一点至十二点在主校大厅表演民族舞蹈片断，讲述和交流她教授民族舞蹈的体会，敬请对此感兴趣的家长光临，学校将根据报名的人数和教室的具体情况，决定适时地开课。

7.老生常谈-教室管理CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT-AN OLD TOPIC

保持教室的整洁、若移动桌椅，务请课后恢复原位。这一点无论怎么强调都不过分！尽管我们反复强调，总有个别教室出问题，显然是没有严格遵守《教室管理细则》所致。

Please keep the classroom clear and tidy, in the original setting. If you have to move the desks and the chairs around, please remember to reset them before class is over. We call everyone’s attention again and again, yet, there are classes where problems found, which indicated our carelessness. I hereby call for your attention to follow the Rules & Regulations of NHS Classrooms Managements.

一、 最好的之一

ONE OF THE BEST (NWCS PERFORMANCE HAVE BEEN HIGHLY RATED)

我们若用“好戏连台，应接不暇”来形容大西雅图华人社区几周以来一个接一个的春节文艺庆祝活动，相信大家都会赞同；即便您可能不认同连台的是不是都是“好戏”，但有一点我想大家是认同的：令人应接不暇。本来，文艺既可以是“阳春白雪”，也可以是“下里巴人”。只要是健康向上的，给人们带来愉悦的，就是好的。“西北中文学校的兔年的春节联欢会是最好的”，有的侨领这样对我说，我认同，我谢谢，我补充说“是最好的之一”，代表大型非专业演出的较高水平。我觉得这样说才斯文，也更合情合理。借此机会，再一次向参加演出的全体师生和台前幕后的义工家长们致谢！谢谢你们为学校赢来了荣誉，谢谢你们为社区送去了欢乐！

二、我校儿童诗歌表演《读唐诗》载誉归来

WELL–PRAISED OF READING TANG POETRY BY NWCS STUDENTS WITH MS ZOU YAN AS THE CONDUCTOR

由美国亚洲表演艺术剧院（导演：李恒达）主办的《春之颂：迎春综合文艺晚会》上周六（02/12/2011） 在华大迷你大剧院隆重举行，阵容强大、表演精彩，颇具专业水准。我要说的是：我校董事会副董事长施红作为主持人之一主持了这个大型的晚会；我校邹燕老师编导的儿童诗歌表演《读唐诗》与专业人员同台献艺，孩子们的表演同样精彩；如果说施红的主持和专业演员给观众带来的是欢声、是笑语；那么，我们西北《读唐诗》的孩子们给观众带去的是童稚、是高雅。朗朗的唐诗仿佛把人们带回到了那大唐盛世。

三、基础太极拳班面向家长免费开课

TAI QI CLASS: FREE FOR PARENTS

大家一定记得：我校春节联欢会上，有一个父子（吴嵘、吴峻涛）同台表演的节目《中国功夫》，表演精湛，传真传神，掌声不断，令人印象深刻。经协商，学校决定聘请吴嵘先生为广大家长教授基础太极拳，弘扬国粹、修身养性。所有我校在校学生的家长及任课老师一律免费，欢迎踊跃报名，尤其是男士们、爸爸们莫失良机。 时间：十二点至一点，教室：2502，原乒乓球上课的体育馆。下周六（02/26/2011）开始授课。报名：admin@nwchinese.org

四、乒乓球课改在主校附近的华州乒乓球训练中心授课/TABLE TENNIS CLASS MOVES TO WA TTT CENTER

因设备，尤其是球台的质量等原因，经与教练协商、部分家长同意，乒乓球课下周起改在主校附近的华州乒乓球训练中心上课。交通、集合、接送等具体事宜，请卢伟和有关家长26日中午到校长办公处协商。正是：名师出高徒，好事需多磨。

五、经济上暂时遇到困难的家庭可申请减免学费

表格和具体实施办法都在我校的网站上，截止日期为二月十九日。让每一名来自当今经济低迷大环境下家庭经济暂时遇到困难的学子顺利入学，并得到必要的资助和关爱，这是西北中文学校对全社会的庄严承诺，是“西北人”对每一名学子的坚定保证。西北中文学校的大门永远以最低的收费标准向所有家庭、包括经济上暂时遇到困难家庭的学生敞开。并努力为学生们提供最高水平的教育。

Northwest Chinese School Continues to Offer Reduced/Waived Tuition for Chinese Language Classes for Students from Low Income Families

All NWCS students, current or new, from families with Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) lower than Washington State standards (details are listed on the Application Form: NWCS FA Form-1088), can expect to pay reduced tuition (up to 50%) or to enjoy 100% tuition waiver (tuition free) for one 2-hour Chinese Class only. In other words, this policy is not applicable to any selective classes at NWCS. No mission for NWCS is more important than to encourage her students to learn or continue to learn the Chinese Language & Culture in the pursue of their brighter future, especially when the economy is in bad shape in general, the family is temporally in financial difficulty in particular. 今天我愿援引中文九年级李伟老师的话作为开场白：
“祝所有人都过了一个愉快欢乐的春节！大家肯定都是一个接一个地party着，然后，孩子们顾不上做作业，就去睡觉，早上喊了好几遍都起不来，因为实在是太困了。至少我们家是这样的，孩子们玩得很高兴，但也太累了。是该收收心的时候了。”

Today, I would like to begin our weekly by quoting Mr. Li Wei’s email to his students. He urges all students to get into the frame of mind for study for the new semester after parties of one after another. I agree with him, totally.

1．春节联欢会圆满结束

谢谢大家（恕不一一提名，因名单太长）的通力合作，尤其要感谢我们的义工家长们的全力以赴，我校的春节联欢会画上了圆满的句号。表演的水平、节目的衔接、背景的色彩、主持的台词、后场的配合等等，台前幕后，就像一篇好的文章，起、承、转、合，环环相扣、恰到好处，因此，可圈可点。没有你们的密切配合、大力支持、鼎力相助，联欢会不可能办得这么令人赞口不绝。成功背后的辛苦令人感动！辛苦换来的成功令人欣慰！

WHAT A SUCESSFUL SHOW FOR CHINESE SPRING FESTIVAL

Please allow me hereby on behalf of NWCS Board, Admin and PTA to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our parents in general and volunteering parents in particular without whose supports and efforts our show could by any means be as good as what it is. In short, it is just like a perfectly-woven story. We are moved by your hardworking, which in return brought us the gratification to cherish.

2．春节联欢会彰显西北风范

我们讲过我校春节联欢活动既是一次文娱活动，也是一次展示和检验我校作为一个群体的精神风貌的活动。事实证明我们做到了而且做得很好；从集体安全、保持剧场的清洁和安静、到听从剧场工作人员的指挥和疏导、遵守剧场的各项规定，可谓事事到位、样样到家，用实际行动维护和提升了我校良好的公众形象。台上台下一样完美。

A GREAT SHOW OF PUBLIC BEARING OF NWCS

NWCS Chinese Spring Festival Performance is the show of songs and dances. It is also the display of our spiritual styles and features as a community. We have done pretty well to keep our promise: to comply with the rules and regulations: safety in public places, good manners and behaviors: not to chase, not to make noises, not to litter, no cooked food, no fruits, no seeds, etc. This is really the testimony which has maintained and upheld the public image of NWCS as a whole. Our joint effort has once again counted. The performances on the stage and the behaviors off stage have perfectly matched.

6. 乒乓球课的时间变更及其解释

任何一门新课，尤其是才艺课程的开设，都是学校与任课教师、和NHS 多方协调、妥协的结果。乒乓球课的开设也不例外。本课程从上学期期中就开始酝酿。起初是没有场地，好不容易有了场地，老师却在原定的时段另有了安排，因此，才导致了临时更改时间而未能提前通知有关家长和学生。特此致歉。解决的办法：一、尊重老师的时间上课（1：00PM-2:00PM）; 二、因该时间而无法修课的学生全额退还学费；三、学费因学时缩短而降为 $160/学期；本课程是为初学者开设的，其理想的学生为7 -- 12岁的初学学生。水平比较高的选手可另择机会选修本课。未尽事宜，校长负责进一步解释。谢谢。

7．书展

由中国科技出版集团美国分公司和我校联合举办的首届图书大展本周六在主校大厅开幕（上午九点至下午两点）。图书种类涵盖文学、科技、教材、工具书、畅销书、音像、书画、世界名著译著等，特此通知。

BOOK SHOW

This one-day only book show is jointly sponsored by CHINA SCIENCE PRESS USA LLC AND NWCS at common area of NHS lobby on 02/12/2011 starting at 9:00am through 2:00pm. The categories cover literature, science and technology, textbooks, dictionaries, DVD/CD, painting and calligraphy, world masterpieces translated in Chinese, etc. Welcome to the show.

2．春节联欢会本周日隆重开幕

我校春节联欢活动既是一次文娱活动，也是一次展示和检验我们学校作为一个群体的精神风貌的活动。我们相信绝大部分观众能做得很好；之所以反复强调，为的是从管理的角度把工作做得到位、做得到家。祈请各位家长务必提醒我们学生和家人，尤其是年幼的学生注意安全；保持剧场的清洁和安静；剧场内严禁带入零食如盒饭、带皮带核的食物；请勿乱跑、请勿乱扔纸屑；听从剧场工作人员的指挥和疏导；遵守剧场的各项规定，维护和塑造我校良好的公众形象，让台上台下一样完美。

NWCS Chinese Spring Festival Performance is the show of songs and dances. It is also the display of our spiritual styles and features as a community. We are confident that the majority will behave as well as expected, complying the rules and regulations. It is hereby to repeat so from the aspect of management of public or massive activities. Thank you for your understanding. Safety is a subject that we can never overemphasize，especially in public places such as in theaters. 4．校园文化、书画展、LOGO及其他

CAMPUS CULTURE, ARTS SHOW, NWCS LOGO, ETC

政治学理论告诉我们：大到一个国家、一个民族的发展，小到一个公司、一所学校的生存，文化至关重要。文化是根。从管理的角度看，文化是一群人在长期的生产生活中，共同形成的一种价值观、行为方式或者思维习惯。文化的功能可以整合人们的价值观念、固化人们的思维习惯、规范人们的行为方式。具体到单位内部的资源配置，第一靠行政命令，第二靠利益驱动，第三就是靠文化。一个单位的文化来源于一种制度的推行，籍以深入人心，沉淀内化到每个人的内心深处，变成了人们自觉遵守的一种东西。一所学校在有了品牌、有了规模之后，其持续发展的潜力往往要靠抓质量、上品位、和有一批有品位的教师们在教学第一线执教，教书育人。他们的兢兢业业和高度的责任感使得行政命令在大多数情况下已无必要；他们和家长们的无私奉献和义工精神又使得利益驱动大凡失灵；因而，我们西北中文学校能有今天的规模和成就，靠的就是属于我们大家又属于我们每一个人的“西北中文校园文化”。有具有这样文化素养的老师们在我校各个学科执教，学校的未来可谓前程似锦。现以美术绘画教学组为例，以点带面：正是因为赵铮、崔兰、赵步东、周志伟，陈奕宁，林书芬等老师们的辛勤培育，我们的学生才创作出这样优秀的作品，在校内外的展出中好评如潮，为学校争得了荣誉，也因此才有今天的发奖仪式。重要的是：孩子们的情操在学习过程中得到了陶冶，孩子们的天赋和潜力在临摹和创作中得到了展现，而老师们的优良品德也潜移默化地得以传承。请大家从艺术的视角再仔细地看一遍我校已使用多年的LOGO, 据我所知这是我校美术教师崔兰老师的作品。在全美中文学校年会上，许多校长都夸奖我校的LOGO简洁、明快、大气、得体，兼具实用价值和艺术价值。我的美国朋友也深有同感。我以为所言极是。（THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THIS PASSAGE IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. 为所有中文教师订阅《学语文》杂志，系我校本年度教师培训内容之一。《学语文》杂志为北美权威性汉语教学期刊，现有国家汉办直接领导、组织专家编辑出版。改版后，我校为该杂志的第一所合作学校，双方正在策划如何刊登我校的介绍、教师的文章和校园生活的图片。请各位老师、家长积极投稿和提供反映我校校园生活、尤其是教学活动的照片。截稿日期为04/16/2011。

LEARN CHINESE-LANGUAGE & CULTURE (LCLC) IS AVAILABLE FOR TEACHERS OF CHINESE ON ADMIN DESK THIS SATURDAY

LCLC is a magazine for Chinese language & culture teachers in North America. Supervised by the Office of Chinese Language & Culture International, it is edited with experts and scholars and published monthly. NWCS is the first of its partner among all Chinese Schools in US. LCLC USA and NWCS are to discuss the possible ways to cooperate, including teachers training seminar, carrying articles and photos by and from NWCS faculty, etc. Please submit your works no later than April 16^th, 2011.
