一、热烈祝贺我校马年春节联欢晚会成功举办以及西雅图海鹰队成功夺得本队历史上首个橄榄球超级碗!虽然成功的意义各不相同，但大家团结合作的精神是一样的。在此衷心感谢晚会所有的参与者，如果没有晚会组织策划者的精心安排，演出人员的辛苦排练和家长义工们的无私奉献，我们就不可能欣赏到这样一台高水准的春节联欢晚会！ 本次晚会的新亮点是晚会主要策划人PTA主席许励就我校历史对我校五位创办人的电视采访，孔子说，"温故能知新"，希望大家珍惜这段共同拥有的不同寻常的过去，我们也鼓励大家多提供与中文学校有关的历史资料和趣闻乐事，为校史的撰写添砖加瓦。

Congratulations to the Seahawks! Congratulations to the success of our NWCS Chinese Spring Festival Performance! What a great game and show! They all reflected the great spirit of unity and cooperation! On behalf of NWCS Board, Admin and PTA we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the NWCS CNY show planners, organizers, performers, parent volunteers etc. Without their supports and efforts we could not possibly enjoy such a high-quality show. One of the highlights for this year's show was the videotaped interview with our school's five founders to review our school's early history. The great thinker Confucius told us that we can gain new insights through reviewing the past. We hope we can all cherish our historical memories dearly and contribute more historical sources, records or reminiscent essays of NWCS to the editing of our school history.

三、幼儿舞蹈班代表西北中文学校演出的节目<<下课十分钟>>在二月二日西雅图中文电台春节晚会中取得了圆满成功并获得优秀节目奖！小朋友天真烂漫的表演和娴熟的舞蹈技巧赢得了观众多次热烈的掌声，得到广大观众和艺术人员的高度评价。她们的表演为学校赢得了荣誉，为学校增添了光彩！感谢何璐老师付出的辛勤劳动和汗水，感谢学生家长们的支持和帮助！这周六是新学期的开始，欢迎对舞蹈感兴趣的适龄小朋友们报名登记。

Congratulations to NWCS Children dancing 1 class led by Teacher Lu He, who represented NWCS and performed in "2014 Spring festive Gala of Chinese Radio Seattle "on 02/02. It was a very successful performance and audiences really loved their dance "Ten Minutes Recess". Great thanks to the hard work by Teacher He，the students and parents of NWCS children dance 1 class！

The "Northwest Education Forum" of 《侨报》is opened by our school to encourage our students, teachers and parents to write more Chinese essays. 五、我们相信好的校训会成为一个学校的文化指针，上次我们向所有西北中文学校的师生家长提出征集校训后，得到了大家的积极响应。继杨琳老师提出了她所建议的校训"豁达自重，智勇求真"之后，其他学校成员也提出了他们的建议，比如"厚文修德，心臻华美"等。对大家的热情支持在此表示感谢，也再次欢迎大家积极参加讨论，帮助我们找到能反映我们学校办学理念和治校精神的校训。

At the turn of another Chinese Lunar New Year of Horse, we, the NWCS Admin team, hereby extend our best wishes to you all——our students, teachers, parents, the Board members, and the PTA volunteers etc.—— for a happy and successful New Year！At the same time we want to thank you again for your continuous support and great contributions to NWCS.

二、本周六（2014年2月1日）将是秋季学期（主校）的最后一周，所有中文班级都会举行才艺表演、扎灯笼、写春联、接对联、猜谜语等与春节习俗有关的春节庆祝活动。希望师生家长们开开心心地共同庆祝我们的传统佳节！需要提醒大家的是请务必注意保持教室清洁，不能带食物和饮料在教室里吃，活动结束后必须要清洁教室。

This Saturday will be our last day of this fall semester and every Chinese class have prepared activities like talent show, riddle games, Chinese traditional crafts etc. to let the students, teachers and parents celebrate our traditional spring festival together. We hope you all have a wonderful time! At the same time we want to remind you of the importance of keeping the classrooms clean. Be sure to not bring food and drinks into the classroom and please clean up after the celebration.

温馨提示：有些家长询问新学期需不需要换班的问题，由于我们学校绝大部分课程是以一个学年（两学期）的长度为单位来设计的，除非是任课老师特别建议或是课程时间有冲突，一般情况下大家不需要换班，而是应该按这学期班号注册。

Since next Saturday (02/08) will be our first day of new spring semester, for those who have not registered for the new spring semester or picked up your required new textbooks, please make sure to act quickly in order to ensure a spot for your children in your desired classes. Also the upcoming semester is the continuation of the current fall semester from teaching plan's perspective. Unless there is any special reason (like teacher's recommendation, schedule conflict etc.), you don't need to change classes in the middle of school year since usually your current class is designed as a one-year-long course.

We are looking forward to our own annual Chinese New Year party, which will be held on 02/02/2014 in Northshore Performing Art Center. Our school PTA, teachers and students have been preparing for this party for several months. Please make your ticket purchases as soon as possible. Tickets price is $8 dollars per person. 一、本周六（01/25/2014）我们主校大部分班级将会进行本学期的期末考试，请大家做好迎考准备并在考试时间准点到校。

Final exams for most classes are taking place on this Saturday（01/25/2014）. Parents: please help your children to prepare for the exams and make sure to send them into their classrooms on time.

二、根据我们的校历安排（请参阅附件），下周六（2014年2月1日）将是本学期（主校）的最后一周，而西雅图分校由于没有受去年临时调课的影响将在本周六结束秋季学期学习。需要提醒大家的是新学期的第一天为2014年的2月8日，所以这次两学期之间没有间隔休息时间，请大家理解配合。

新学期注册已经开始，由于不断有新生要求加入，请大家抓紧时间报名，以免名额不够。我们鼓励所有返校学生采用快捷高效的网上注册付费。

Congratulations to our NWCS Advanced dancing class led by our Teacher Fu Baiwei, who represented NWCS and performed for Microsoft CNY show 2014 last week. It was a very successful performance and audiences really loved their dance “Jasmin flower”. Great thanks to the hard work by Teacher Fu Baiwei and the students and parents of NWCS Advanced dancing class！

一、本周六（01/18/2014）我们将进入本学期的第十四周，各班分别进入了期末复习考试阶段。请各位家长配合老师，帮助督促孩子们搞好复习,总结和考试，以便更好地准备下一个学期的学习。

This Saturday will be our 14^th week for this semester and our classes will enter final review and exam time. Please help your children to review what they have   learned and get ready for the final exams so they can be better prepared for next semester's learning.

 

二、大家关心的新学期注册将于本周六开始，网上注册链接也将在周六开通。我们鼓励所有返校学生网上注册付费，方便快捷，省时高效。

The “Northwest Education Forum” of 《侨报》is sponsored by our school to encourage our students, teachers and parents to express themselves in Chinese writing and art. 六、再次提醒大家：请注意规范停车。自从我们开始采用以放小黄条警告的方法后，乱停车的问题有了明显好转。不过，还是有一些家长在Loading Zone  停车，影响了其他车的正常出入。希望每次您让孩子下车后请立即把车开走或在远处找停车位，这样才能保持交通的畅通。

Last but not the least, please do not park your car in loading/unloading zone. It is important to keep those area clear so traffic could move smoothly. To reduce time in searching for a parking spot, parking further away from the main building may be a better idea.

NWCS 13th Weekly Briefings, 2013-2014 Fall Semester

1、本周六我们将进入本学期的第十三周，现在已经有家长询问网上注册下一学期课程何时开始等的事宜。根据我们的校历，本学期还剩下三周，将在2014年的2月1日结束。新学期的第一周为2014年的2月8日。新学期网上注册将在2014年的1月18日开始，我们鼓励所有返校同学在网上注册付费，新同学可以从下周六开始到Bellevue 行政办公桌前来报名。

This Saturday will be our 13^th week for this semester， that is to say this semester will end on Feb. 1st.  And the new semester starts on Feb. 8^th. Online registration for next semester will start on Jan.18^th, 2014 and we encourage all returning students to register on-line. And new students can come to the Bellevue admin desk to register for next semester classes from next Saturday on.

2、新年伊始，捷报频传！首先让我们祝贺我校数学科目学生唐山墨被选为美国数学组代表参加了最近在北京举行的世界数学小组赛并获得一块个人金牌。详情请见http://www.wmtc-math.net/en/2013huojian.html

Congratulation! Colin Tang, a NWCS student, has recently been selected in a U.S. team to participate the "World Mathematics Team Championship" in Beijing, China. In the competition event, Colin has won an individual gold medal. The event detail is available at http://www.wmtc-math.net/en/2013huojian.html

3、To help NWCS students to prepare for AMC competition (http://www.maa.org/math-competitions/amc-1012), school math program will continue the Saturday afternoon training series. Two sessions have been scheduled in January.

All the training sessions are "FREE" but the participants are very welcome to support NWCS math program by making donations or providing constructive feedback.

4、本周六（01/11）西北中文学校的五位创办人邱夏萍女士，季苏苏女士，贺海波女士，曹育松先生和梅重远先生将应邀来我校参观并参加一个学校PTA为新年晚会组织的访谈节目。他们为了支持我们学校的校史编纂工作和春节晚会，都是在百忙之中抽空来极力配合，有的这次还专程从休斯敦坐飞机赶来参加录制节目，他们这种认真负责的精神和真诚的爱心不仅让我们感动，更让我们感到了一种继续团结前行的动力。希望大家用这种团结互助的精神配合把我们的校史编纂工作以及其他各项工作做好！

This Saturday the five founders of our school will be invited to come back to our school to participate an interview program organized by our school PTA. These founders have been extremely supportive and cooperative to help us with lots of programs including the school history project and our school’s New Year celebration show. We not only want to express our great appreciation to them but also hope we can learn from them and unite together to work hard for our great school!

NWCS 11th Weekly Briefings, 2013-2014 Fall Semester

亲爱的家长们、老师们，亲爱的同学们：

Dear All Parents, Teachers and Students;

1、2013年还剩下二十来天，还有一周各学校就将陆续进入冬季假期。为了配合您们的假期安排，中文学校也将从下周起开始放假。本周六将是我们在2013年的最后一次课，我们下次的见面将在2014年的1月4日。在这里我们提前预祝您和您的家人拥有一个愉快的假期和祥和幸福的新年！

 

There are about twenty days left for the year of 2013 and the winter break will start in a week or two for most schools. To commensurate with your holiday arrangements, our school will also take a two week break starting from next week. So this Saturday will be our last class meet for the year of 2013 and our next meet will be on Jan.4^th, 2014. And we wish you and your family a happy winter break and a very happy New Year in advance!

 

2、我们相信大家一定已经为孩子们安排了许多丰富多彩的假期活动，但我们也建议大家可以趁此机会好好锻炼孩子们的中文口语对话和中文写作的能力，比如，家长们可以在安排回国探亲或是走亲访友的时候让自己的孩子多练习中文对话或是教会他们一些中文习惯用语，另外还可以让孩子们在假期开始用中文记日记或是写作文，记下他们假期中发生的有趣的故事或是读过的好书。

 

由《侨报》主办的“西北教育论坛”发表了我校7A班潘丰忻、7B班苏童、7C班杨澜和高级绘画班刘翰雯的作品（ http://sf.uschinapress.com/node/25393），请这几位同学本周六11：00-11：30之间来Admin办公桌领取稿酬奖励。我们期待在上面不久就会见到你们的作品。欢迎你们投稿，来稿请寄：admin@nwchinese.org。

 

We believe you probably have arranged all kind of activities for your children during this winter break. And we would like to add some more ideas to your list of the winter break activities because we think this would be a great opportunity for your kids to practice more with their Chinese speaking and writing skills: you can let your children converse in Chinese when your family is visiting friends or relatives during the holidays or you can teach them some Chinese idioms when the occasions come up. And you can ask your children keep a Chinese journal about their winter break activities or write about a book they read in the break. The “Northwest Education Forum” of 《侨报》is opened by our school to encourage our students, teachers and parents to write Chinese essays more. And you can find more works from our students in the new issue (see http://sf.uschinapress.com/node/25393). You are welcome to submit your own work through email to: admin@nwchinese.org.

 

3、上次我们学校向所有西北中文学校的师生家长提出征集校训后，得到了大家的积极响应。继杨琳老师提出了她所建议的校训-----“豁达自重，智勇求真”之后，又有其他学校成员提出了他们新的建议，比如“厚文修德，心臻华美”等。对大家的热情支持在此表示感谢，也再次欢迎大家积极参加讨论，帮助我们找到能反映我们学校办学理念和治校精神的校训。

After our asking all our teachers, parents and management team to join us in searching for our school's motto, we have received some great responses. We want to thank you for your enthusiasm and hope more of you can join our discussions in order to search for the best motto that could summarize the motivation behind our school and set a great goal for us.
