大家好！

1.未交纳学费的家长，请您务必带支票本来 TUITION DUE PLEASE COME WITH YOUR CHECK & PAY

本周是开学的第三周，但仍有个别家长由于种种原因尚未交纳学费，固然WINTER-BREAK是原因之一，但制度就是制度，希望大家共同遵守。

If you have NOT paid the tuition for your students within last two weeks, please do so on this coming Saturday (03/02/2013) at the Admin Desk during the school hours (9:00am to 2:00pm). Starting from next week (03/09/2013), an additional $5.00/week late-fee will be charged to your account. Please NOTE, even your student meets the requirements for tuition waiver of the Chinese Language class, you still need to make the payment first and the school will refund you upon approval.

2.转班换课及其它ADD/DROP CLASSES & CLASS SWITCH

Starting from this Saturday (03/02/2013), no class switch unless written permission is given by the Principal. All textbooks are for NWCS currently registered students, and will NOT be sold to non-NWCS students unless approved by ADMIN based on availability.  

3. 减免学费申请审批完毕，请申请人到校行政核领支票ALL TUITION WAIVER APPLICATIONS PROCESSED APPLICANTS CAN COME TO ADMIN DESK FOR THE CHECK

我校关心每一位学生的学习，关怀他们的成长，关注他们的进步，关爱他们的身心健康，包括家中经济上暂时遇到困难的同学。与此同时，我们也同样关心支持我们办好学校的广大家长，体恤家长们因经济大环境欠佳而遇到的暂时困难。《西北中文学校2012-2013学年关于为来自经济上暂时遇到困难家庭的学生提供减/免学中文学费的办法》仍然依照往年的办法实施。详见我校网站。需要提醒大家的是：学费减免范围仅限于中文课程；所有申请人必须先如数交纳学费。申请批准后，学校由此专项经费中退还其交纳的学费，实为税务、财务程序的必需，请大家理解。
为什么仅限于中文课程？因为我们办的是中文学校，中文是我们的主修课程。这是我们的政策之一。舞蹈、艺术、美术等课程虽然也和中文一样是弘扬中华文化不可或缺的组成部分，毕竟是我们的辅助课程，对于所有辅助课程，包括数学、英文等，我们的政策是用低收费(LOW TUITION AND COMPETITIVE PRICE)惠及每一个家庭而不仅仅是低收入的家庭。谢谢！

4.免费法律讲座---美国家庭婚姻法律 SEMINAR ON US FAMILY & MARRIAGE LAW

由曹霄鹤律师事物所主办的法律专家服务社区系列讲座第一期听众80余人，好评如潮。听到的受益匪浅，错过的深感遗憾。第二期3月2日星期六由著名律师讲授美国家庭婚姻法律。时间12-13时，地点1201。请详见PTA 邮件。

Sponsored and organized by Lani Cao Law Office, the free legal seminar series ended the first session with roomful audience and great comments. This Saturday, it will start the second session in the same room 1201 from 12noon to 13.30pm. For detailed info, please refer to PTA announcement.

5.关于我校的网站和我们的 WEEKLY

上学期开学伊始，“NWCS WEEKLY-----维系我们西北人的纽带”一文在我校引起强烈反响，世界各地的中文学校也相继转载。溢美之词使我们更加努力地把它办得有水准、有品味、有品位、有特色；既有功能性，又有可读性。散见在过去几年的短文，都是我们用心写的，力求用简短、精炼的文笔，写出大家的诉求、大家的心愿；彰显西北的凝聚力，表达我们的归属感。其实，写得简单和写得好一样难。只要大家喜欢看，就是对我们这个团队（包括幕后的IT）最大的鼓励与支持。让我们在新的一年里，携起手来，齐心协力，为了我们的学校，我们的儿女，也为了我们的付出、我们的经营、我们的期冀。

大型文艺演出《I SING BEIJING》——EAST MEETS WEST ON STAGE本月二十六日晚七点在华大闪亮登场。

本团先前曾在纽约林肯艺术中心等地演出，场场爆满，幕幕精彩。西雅图为最后一站。华大孔子学院特邀我校师生家长前往观看，现有65个座位，有意前往者，请送电邮至admin@nwchinese.org报名，先到先得，前65名将得到ADMIN送出的确认邮件。我校有关人员将在剧场门口恭候大家。

I Sing Beijing is a groundbreaking program of the Mandarin Chinese Academy of Vocal Arts that enables Western professional singers to perform in Mandarin. Young vocal stars from the United States, Europe and around the world are trained in Beijing under the direction of acclaimed Metropolitan Opera singer Hao Jiang Tian. They bring a sublime combination of classical and modern Chinese and Western repertoire, fully reflecting the concept that art has no borders.

她们在教学方面各有所长，各具特色，都在我校任教十年以上，是我校的优秀教师，是我校的资深教师。她们因资深而优秀，而她们的优秀同时成就了她们的资深。

4．增强遵守《校舍教室管理规则》的意识 RULES & REGULATIONS FOR NEWPORT HIGH SCHOOL (NHS) CLASSROOM MAINTENANCE & MANAGEMENT

遵守《校舍教室管理规则》是每一位教师、家长和学生的责任，因为这是我们的学校赖以生存的基础，攸关我们的教学活动。尽管我们反复提醒，问题还是时有发生。请家长、老师务必嘱咐学生，尤其是年幼的低年级学生，不要乱动教室内的设施，远离NHS老师的办公桌。

ALL TEACHERS AND PARENTS PLEASE REMIND YOUR STUDENTS NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING ON AND BESIDES NHS TEACHERS’ DESK. STAY AWAY FROM THE DESK IF POSSIBLE.

5.减免中文课程学费申请说明 TUITION WAIVER POLICIES

Please Note: For tax and bookkeeping purposes, even your student meets the requirements for tuition waiver of the Chinese Language class, you still need to make the payment first and the school will refund you upon approval. We shall process applications as quickly as we can and let you know as soon as possible. Stay tuned.

值此农历新春佳节来临之际，西北中文学校行政管理团队、董事会、PTA敬祝大家在新的一年里幸福、吉祥、健康、平安！

2．  我校春节联欢会成功举办，特此鸣谢!

学长学妹同台，师生家长共舞。在喜庆、祥和的气氛中，我校又一次成功地举了农历蛇年的春节联欢会。特此致谢！尤其要感谢义工家长们的全力以赴、指导教师的精益求精以及筹委会（包括策划、舞监、司幕、舞美、灯光、音响、道具、催场、主持人、报幕词、画外音等）的通力合作。无论是表演水平、节目创新、表演技巧、舞台美术、服装设计，还是节目衔接、后场配合、剧场秩序等等，都达到了一定的水准，可圈可点。台上台下、台前幕后，就像一篇好的文章，起、承、转、合，环环相扣、恰到好处。受到普遍的赞扬。成功背后的辛苦令人感动！辛苦换来的成功令人欣慰！

WHAT A SUCCESSFUL SHOW FOR CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR!

Please allow me hereby on behalf of NWCS Board, Admin and PTA to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our parents in general and volunteering parents in particular without whose supports and efforts our show could by any means be as good as what it is. In short, it is just like a perfectly-woven story. We are moved by your hardworking, which in return brought us the gratification to cherish.

3。春节联欢会彰显西北精神风貌

春节联欢会是我校一年一度最大规模的庆典活动，它既能展示我校课外活动的丰富多彩，又可检验我校作为一个群体在公共生活领域的精神风貌。事实证明我们做到了而且做得很好：从集体安全、保持剧场的清洁和安静有序、到听从剧场工作人员的指挥和疏导、遵守剧场的各项规定，可谓事事到位、样样到家，用实际行动维护和提升了我校良好的公众形象。台上台下一样完美。

A GREAT SHOW OF PUBLIC BEARING OF NWCS

NWCS Chinese Spring Festival Performance is the show of songs and dances. It is also the display of our spiritual styles and features as a community. We have done pretty well to keep our promise: to comply with the rules and regulations: safety in public places, good manners and behaviors: not to chase, not to make noises, not to litter, no cooked food, no fruits, no seeds, etc. This is really the testimony which has maintained and upheld the public image of NWCS as a whole. Our joint effort has once again counted. The performances on the stage and the behaviors off stage have perfectly matched.

4. 新学期本周六开学，请网上注册 NEW SEMESTER STARTS RHIS SATURDAY. ONLINE REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED: PLEASE DO IT IF NOT YET.   

(A) New semester starts on THIS SATURDAY, 02/09/2013. If you haven’t done it yet, please do it as soon as possible. (B) If you prefer, you can do onsite registration at Admin Desk this Saturday.

(C) Most of classes don't need to purchase new textbook, except Chinese 2A, 2E, 2F and 5A, 5E have to buy new textbook ($50.00) for new semester. If you register online, the book fee will be added in your tuition by default. Please remember to print out the receipt to pick up the textbook at admin desk. Online registration will be ended at the first day of new semester. As you know, some of classes fill in quickly. To avoid the high traffic on 02/09, please try to finish registration process at your earliest convenience.  

(D) If you register the class online but not make payment yet, please remember to print out the report and drop it off with your paycheck at Admin Desk.

5.高年级活动报道 REPORT ON SENIOR CHINESE CLASS ACTIVITIES
一月二十六日，我校高年级（9-12年级）包括AP中文班在内的所有学生，在全体高年级老师的精心准备和共同合作下，进行了一次有关“中国文化和生活”的主题活动。本次活动由四个部分组成：学剪纸、学写毛笔字、娱乐视频、猜谜语。同学们通过参加这样的活动，亲自动手剪出了自己的作品，用毛笔写出了漂亮的汉字，通过观看中国现在流行的娱乐访谈节目，同学们对当代中国人的生活和中国的国情有了比较直观的了解，进一步提高了他们学习中文的兴趣。这是我校中文教学形式改变的一种尝试、一个亮点。
6. 经济上暂时遇到困难的家庭可申请减免学费
表格和具体实施办法都在我校的网站上，截止日期为二月二十三日。让每一名来自当今经济低迷大环境下家庭经济暂时遇到困难的学子顺利入学，并得到必要的资助和关爱，这是西北中文学校对全社会的庄严承诺，是“西北人”对每一名学子的坚定保证。西北中文学校的大门永远以最低的收费标准向所有家庭、包括经济上暂时遇到困难家庭的学生敞开。并努力为学生们提供最高水平的教育。
Northwest Chinese School Continues to Offer Reduced/Waived Tuition for Chinese Language Classes for Students from Low Income Families
All NWCS students, current or new, from families with Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) lower than Washington State standards (details are listed on the Application Form: NWCS FA Form-1088), can expect to pay reduced tuition (up to 50%) or to enjoy 100% tuition waiver (tuition free) for one 2-hour Chinese Class only. In other words, this policy is not applicable to any selective classes at NWCS. No mission for NWCS is more important than to encourage her students to learn or continue to learn the Chinese Language & Culture in the pursue of their brighter future, especially when the economy is in bad shape in general, the family is temporally in financial difficulty in particular. 7.课堂纪律 CLASSROOM DISCIPLINES
新学期就要开始了。请PTA LEAD在配合班主任老师组织好教学的同时，同老师一道维持好良好的课堂纪律，严禁同学之间推搡等非礼行为发生。下周再展开讨论。
