1． PTA 主席：蒋海林先生我谨代表西北中文学校教学行政管理团队向新任PTA主席蒋海林先生表示衷心的祝贺！

On behalf of NWCS Admin, Please allow me to express my heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Hailin Jiang on his new appointment as NWCS PTA Chair.

2． 办学理念的一点说明

西北中文学校的办学宗旨是教育普及和文化传承。这就规定了我们必须对所有适龄少年儿童敞开大门，而不是人为地设坎儿，部分地限制招生人数以此达到所谓“保证教学质量”的目的。作为校长我倾听并感谢来自每一个关心、爱护西北中文学校的建言。大家的出发点是善意的：为了把学校办得更好，尤其是在高质量的教学方 面。我认为高质量的教学决不仅仅是单纯追求考试分数的教学；高质量的教学应该是包括高分数在内的高综合能力的教学：我们西北学生不仅在课堂上跟老师学习书本知识，他们还在课间与他的同龄同学同伴互相学习，同时，他们还从比他们年级高、年龄大的PEERS哪儿学，并在西北中文学校这个平台上初学社交和为人、为学之道。而后者往往是不具规模的小学校所难以具备和提供的，但这对学生的成才立业又是不可或缺的。

3． 温馨提醒：学费因故退还实施办法

Based on school tuition and refund polices of NWCS：

1）Tuition is due on the first day of the school. Starting from the 4th week, an additional $5.00 per week is charged for late tuition payment.

2）Starting from the 3rd week, only 50% tuition refund is available for withdrawal from the class．

4. 课堂管理细则

西北中文学校规定：上课期间最多两位家长可坐在教室后面旁听，任课老师是班上的主人。不允许任何家长以任何方式当众训斥学生，即便该学生是您的子女。敬请配合。

NWCS has the policy that only 2 parents are allowed to seat in the classroom while the class is in session. Your cooperation and consideration are highly appreciated. The teacher is the host of the classroom, no abuse of any kind is allowed, even if s/he is your child.

Anyone who wants to switch classes, please come to Admin Desk for permission. The Principals reserve the right to reject if the class being switched to is full.

5. Math Program needs Parents' Help!

As you may know, the number of students participating in our math program has grown rapidly this year. To support the regional math events, we will need many volunteer parents to help us coordinate the math event registration and fee collection. If you are passionate to help, please feel free to contact nwcsmath@live.com at any time. We appreciate your support in advance.

Speaking about math and our math program, as the Principal, I have to say that we cannot praise the team led by Ron too high. (怎么表扬他们都不过分。) In US, of all subjects covered at school, math is the one that worries parents the most, several of my American friends told me so. We’ve met many a parent whose concern is that their child is beginning to bring home homework that the parent can’t do. But at NWCS there are many parents who are at least competent, often very good, at math, and they have a different worry. The problem is: They do it differently at school those days. Attempts by Dad to demonstrate subtraction by adding one and paying ten at the bottom are met by a glazed look from a bewildered child, who finally goes to Mom saying, “Dad is just confusing me.” Do you have such a moment? Just share with you.

6. 历史、地理、文化辅导课程第五周开讲（10/02/2010）

The class, taught by Mr. Sun Benjing, will start with 1 hour for history (12:00 - 1:00 PM) and 1 hour for geography (1:00 - 2:00 PM). The culture will be taught after the history and geography since the culture refers to the history and geography a lot. The class will be taught in an interesting and interactive way, so that the students will have the motivation to keep on studying proactively.

HAPPY MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL TO YOU ALL!

相信大家都会同意这样的观点：在所有中国的传统节日中，中秋节最富有浪漫色彩，最具有文化韵味，充满了诗情画意，是中国文学中最美的符号，是我们知识分子的最爱。让我们同远在祖国的亲人们一起，共庆中秋，“ 但愿人长久，千里共婵娟。” I believe that you may agree my viewpoint that among all traditional Chinese Holidays, Mid-Autumn is the one we intellectuals love most. It is the most beautiful and the most popular one in the history of Chinese Literature, romantic, cultural, poetic and picturesque. Let’s celebrate it by sharing the beauty of the MOONLIGHT with them, though on different sides of the Pacific. “So let us wish that man will live long as he can！Though miles apart, we’ll share the beauty she displays.”

1除了个别班级需要调整外，教学工作正按照我们的教学计划进行。本学年，无论是班级数量、学生人数、还是教师人数、课程设置数量都高于往年。我们为此感到高兴，但我们同时必须认识到我们的责任和教学任务也大于重于往年，我们要实现与其看重学生数量，我们更追求教学质量的承诺，就必须付出更为艰巨的劳动，在寓教于乐上下更大的功夫。在针对我们学生们的特点，因人施教上下功夫。就教师而言：认真是前提、耐心是关键、鼓励是秘诀。与此同时，我们需要教师、学生和家长三方的密切配合。

2两周一次的奥数技能训练Do you like to have your Children get well prepared for the upcoming high school level of national math competitions (i.e. AMC 12 and AIME)? We are planning to open a new Math Olympic training program on Saturday (12:10 - 13:00, tbd) biweekly in NWCS campus for the middle/high school students with exceptional ability. In this training session, we will use challenging material to help students walk through some key steps of "hard" problem-solving, in order to improve their mathematical analysis skills. If your child is passionate to sign up this training session, or if you have any questions about this notice, please contact nwcsmath@live.com, with student name, current grade in weekday school, and phone number.

3开学已经两周，学校的秩序需要稳定下来，教学大楼内需要安静。大楼内外需要安全巡逻，请各位家长、PTA积极参加。

4保持教室的整洁、若移动桌椅，务请课后恢复原位。这一点无论怎么强调都不过分！在西北中文有自己的“家”---自己的校舍之前，我们所有家长、教师都必须对这个问题有充分的认识，诱导学生，尤其是低年级的学生遵守NHS教室管理细则。(详见我校网站)。

5为使我校学生在明年4-5月份举行的中华文化知识竞赛中取得更优异的成绩，我校特聘孙本经老师专门对高年级（8-12）的学生进行为期20多个课时的系统辅导。不另收费，但学生成绩一并计入中文课的总成绩，欲毕业前申请HIGH SCHOOL WORLD LANGUAGE CREDITS的同学一定会受益良多。明年想要免费畅游中国的同学，更要踊跃参加。请8、9、10、11、12年级的各班老师帮助登记本班的学生，25日放学前报至校长处。授课时间为：12-2pm。教材为《中国文化、地理、历史》一套三册。教室另行通知。

6谢谢即将卸任的PTA主席马冬, 请推选/自荐下任PTA主席Serving wonderfully for his one-year-long term, our PTA Chair, David Ma (Ma Dong) is to step down from this great position. Please allow me, on behalf of NWCS, Board & admin, to express our gratitude to him for his excellent contributions and leadership. A new PTA Chair is to be elected before the end of this month. Please nominate your candidates or yourself to pta@nwchinese.org.

7成人中高级羽毛球训练班NWCS decided to offer an Adult Intermediate Badminton class this semester. The class will be held on Saturdays 9:10am - 10:40am from Sept. 25th to Jan. 22nd. The class will be taught by the head coach Ms. Huaiwen Xu of Bellevue Badminton Club at the club. The maximum class size is 8 people. The class fee is $160. If you are interested in signing up for the class, please send e-mail to: admin@nwchinese.org before Sept. 25^th, 2010. Due to limited class size, it will be on first come first serve base. A waiting list will be compiled if registration exceeds 8 people. However, if we don’t have enough enrollments, the class will be cancelled. NWCS may open more classes with different levels next semester if this semester's class is well received and if there are more demands.

继续欢迎广大师生返校！继续欢迎新同学入学。

1. A Promise from the Principal and his team: Quality is NWCS’s Priority, Not the number.

虽然在正式开学之前,我们网上注册报名的学生接近千名，十一日开学首日报名注册的学生仍然熙熙攘攘，络绎不绝，加上试听的学生和试听的家长，致使有的班上的学生总数超过了标准定编人数。几天以来，不断有家长打电话给校长询问解决的办法，现在我郑重地答复大家：我们绝不会因为录取学生人数的增加，而降低教学质量。换句话说，我们绝不会以牺牲教学质量，牺牲学校高水平、高质量教学的口碑和名誉为代价来换取单纯的学生数量。请各位新、老家长放心，我们会严格地控制每个班的学生人数在标准人数之内，对人数较多的班级，我们除了积极分班以外，会为老师配搭助理教师。

2. Due to Larger enrollment, some classes have been split into two or more, some have to be moved into afternoon hours for the lack of classroom. For detailed, please check your e-mails.

现在，我们已经将一年级由原来的两个班分为了三个班；四年级下午除已有的《暨南中文》班以外，又增设了一个《马立平中文》班，以缓解上午班的拥挤和教室短缺现象。如果您的时间允许，可考虑把孩子从上午班转到下午班，上、下午均由司老师任教，质量保证。

3. Our math program and classes carried out efficiency test on the first day, based on which classes have been regrouped smoothly thank to Math Director Dai Ron & his team’s great efforts.

数学班已在各位老师的通力合作下，根据学生第一天的测试成绩，基本完成了班级的组织分配工作。

4. On behalf of NWCS, I hereby express my sincere gratitude to all parents, all NWCS general members, especially to those who frankly told me their concerns. Your opinions are important to NWCS and there are always some truth and revelations in them.

正如家长们在电话中谈到的那样，这几天我们的确很辛苦，但我们更高兴，因为充足的生源是我们所期盼的。而送孩子到有最好的老师的学校则是广大家长所期盼的。我们的目标是一致的：帮助他们健康、快乐地成长，同时，把他们培养成才。

校舍教室的管理细则

RULES & REGULATIONS

FOR

NEWPORT HIGH SCHOOL (NHS)

CLASSROOM MAINTENANCE & MANAGEMENT

(西北中文学校关于租用NHS校舍教室的管理细则）

1. TEACHERS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO SUPERVISE STUDENTS IN THE CLASSROOM BESIDES CARRYING OUT TEACHING TASKS & ACTIVITIES;

教师除了组织好正常的教学活动外，有义务和责任疏导和管理本班本教室的学生；

2. TEACHERS ARE REQUIRED TO TELL ALL THE STUDENTS AND VOLUNTEERS (PARENTS) ON DUTY ALL THE RULES & REGULATIONS, MAKING SURE THAT THEY UNDERSTAND THEM;

请所有老师务必向全体学生和值班的学生家长把教室使用管理条例讲明白，并确认他们对此明白无疑；

3. KEEP THE ITEMS IN THE SAME ORDER AS IT IS. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE THE DESKS AROUND UNLESS YOU HAVE FOR THE SAKE OF TEACHING ACTIVITIES. RESUME THE SAME ORDER AS IT WAS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE CLASS SECTION ENDS;

请不要随便移动教室内的摆设（如课桌，椅子，挂图等），除非因课程需要不得不临时移动。下课后离开教室前，务必请使被移动的东西恢复原位；

4. PLEASE DON'T TOUCH THE ELECTRONIC WHITEBOARD. KEEP THE STUDENTS AWAY FROM IT IF YOU CAN.

请不要使用教室中的电子书写白板。尽量使学生远离它，以免将此白板损坏；

5.TEACHERS CAN'T ERASE THE WRITINGS AND THE INFO ON THE REGULAR BOARD(NORMALLY BESIDES THE ELECTRONIC BOARD) BY THE TEACHERS OF NHS. IN THAT CASE, WE NWCS TEACHERS HAVE TO USE OUR OWN SMALL WHITE BOARD.ADMIN TEAM WILL HAVE A FEW AVAILABLE JUST IN CASE.

特别提醒西北中文学校的老师，上课前不要擦掉普通白板上NHS老师原有的书写文字等。在此情况下，就只好用我们自己备用的小白板了。学校会购买几个小白板已备需要时之用；

6. NO FOOD, NO DRINK, NO LITTER IN THE CLASSROOMS AND TEACHING AREAS.

教学大楼内，教室内外，除一楼大厅指定用餐区外，一律不准吃零食，不准乱扔纸屑垃圾；

7. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO TOUCH OR MOVE ANYTHING ON THE TEACHER'S DESK OF NHS, ESP. COMPUTER,LAPTOP, TEXTBOOKS, REFERENCE MATERIALS, ETC.;

任何人都不要动老师书桌上的任何东西（尤其是电脑，课本，工具书等）

8. TEACHERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO INVITE 2 OR MORE PARENTS OF THE STUDENTS OF YOUR OWN CLASS TO HELP MAINTAIN THE CLASSROOM;

任课老师可根据本班的实际需要，邀请本班的学生家长轮流帮助管理教室，维持教室清洁如初；

9. IF POSSIBLE, NWCS TEACHERS PLEASE INTRODUCE YOUSELF TO THE NHS HOME OFFICE TEACHERS WITH WHOSE YOU ARE SHARING THE SAME CLASSROOM. EXCHANGE NECESSARY INFO INCASE SOMETHING HAPPENS. ADMIN TEAM WILL DO THE SAME TO ALL HOME OFFICE TEACHERS.

如有可能，请各位老师主动向该教室的NHS的班主任老师进行必要的自我介绍和联系方式，以便有问题时及时沟通。学校也会同他们交流信息，联络感情；
