1．小百灵杯中国语言类才艺竞赛奖正式设立 LITTLE LEARNERS CUP SET UP
FOR TALENT SHOW
“揽万卷文采，汲百代精华”，西北中文学校承蒙“小百灵幼儿园——EASTSIDE
LITTLE LEARNERS”全额赞助（奖金总额 $1,000.00），正式设立小百灵杯中国语言类才艺竞赛奖。首届“小百灵杯”才艺竞赛将在今年十一月份在主校礼堂举行。本活动旨在弘扬中华民族的优秀传统，激励学子努力学习中国文化的同时，为本校学生提供一个展现自我，展示才艺和彰显个性魅力的舞台。
比赛项目和分组：
个人组
k-2 组项目：朗诵、唱歌
3-5 组项目：讲故事、唱歌
6-12组项目：演讲、唱歌
集体组:

小百灵幼儿园(EASTSIDE LITTLE LEARNERS)是华盛顿州执照的双语幼儿园。开设中文、英文、数学、自然科学、生活常规、音乐、舞蹈、体操、美术等课程。课程设置独特、完善、有适合婴幼儿各个年龄段的教学大纲。本幼儿园以培养传统美德及行为规范为准则，在提供高品质幼儿教育的同时注重薪火相传，承袭中华文化的教育。www.eastsidelittlelearners.com

3. 谈书论道
DISCUSSIONS ON CALLIGRAPHY
随着书画摄影展截稿日期（05/12/2012）的迫近，越来越多的同学呈交了他们的作品。席间常常和家长们谈书论道地随便聊聊，但受益匪浅。以写字为例（字画相通，绘画应为大同小异），练习书法，特别是为了出好作品，除了辛苦以外，还往往同一个人书写时的心情有关：在不同的心境下提笔，效果是不一样的。心平气和时提笔，字显清丽、雅气；愉快、高兴时——飘逸、流畅；寄托某种情怀时——厚重、有力；而郁闷心烦时——呆板、滞涩，一般而言是写不出好字来的。练字就是练心。同时，书法还特别倚重字外功——人文底蕴、文化精神和思想哲理。中国书法在日本叫书道，我们称之为法是从书写的规范、法度着眼的，而日本人称之为道则是从意境、情操切入的。两者有异曲同工之妙，尽管两国的着眼点有所不同。画贵立品，书法亦然。

Weber, PLLC, a premier Northwest immigration law firm, in conjunction
with East West Bank, is pleased announce an EB-5 Investor immigrant visa
seminar on May 10, 2012, in Mercer Island, Washington.
Congress
created the EB-5 investment visa program in 1990, and the program is
administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The law
allows foreign investors to earn a green card (i.e., U.S. permanent resident
status) by investing $1 million—or $500,000 in a “targeted employment area”—and
creating 10 full-time jobs.
Congress
later created the EB-5 Regional Center pilot program, which allows foreign
investors to invest (typically $500,000) in USCIS-designated EB-5 Regional
Centers. A key advance is that unlike in direct investments, regional centers
can rely in “reasonable” economic methodologies to prove the creation of 10
direct—or indirect—jobs.
Since the
change in law, many U.S. developers and businesses have used the EB-5 Regional
Center program to attract foreign capital from overseas investors. (Currently,
the majority of EB-5 investors come from Asia, particularly China.) Because
traditional bank financing is so difficult to obtain in today’s market, many
businesses have successfully used the EB-5 Regional Center program to access
desperately needed investment capital not available elsewhere.
