NWCS 2011-2012 English Debate Class

Robert White is a long time debater and one of the most successful coaches in Washington State. He debated for four years at Oak Harbor High School and for two years alongside the Whitman College team. While finishing his undergraduate degree at the University of Washington, he started one of the best high school debate teams in the state at Ingraham High School. Ingraham was ranked second in the state in their second year of competition and earned national honors.
Robert’s approach to teaching debate stresses the critical thinking skills and civic engagement of students. He leads students through in-depth study of public policy and bolsters students’ communication skills through competitive speaking. He knows that more people are afraid of public speaking than they are of death, so he leads students through a difficult and advanced course of study in a relaxed and fun environment.
